What is the best outdoor lighting for the US flag?

The LED lights seem so expensive, and I don't know if the solar lights are any better. Any suggestion would be appreciated!

Solar Powered Generator??

I'm looking to but this solar powered generator for emergency and outdoor use. Here is the product.

The battery has a nominal 720 WH of capacity; after the inverter, this will probably yield more like 600-650 WH.

How long a refrigerator will run on that depends on the fridge.  I'd estimate a day with the PV panel helping.  If you want to be sure, get yourself a Kill-A-Watt or equivalent and measure the daily consumption of the fridge you want to run.

The connectors and such aren't shown.  You may be able to add a bigger battery, more PV capacity or both just by wiring them in; this would let you run a fridge for several days.  The 1500 W inverter would probably be able to run more or less continuously.

Last, this is a fairly expensive system:  about $22 per rated PV watt (more per delivered watt).  You're paying a lot for the convenience of the built-in cart.  If you don't mind a little construction, you could bolt an inverter and a battery box to a hardware-store dolly and get a unit built to your own specs for much cheaper.

How do I keep our one year old husky from chewing on our Christmas decorations?

Our husky has a tendancy to get out of her collar when she is tied up, so we keep her in the front yard because it has a fence. Unfortunatley she has a funny habit to chew on anything that is out there, including Christmas decorations. We don't have this problem inside, so it is a puzzler. My question is, how can I have even the simplest Christmas decoration (she chewed through our christmas lights around the windows, and our solar powered path lights) when nothing is safe out there?

Put bitter apple or vinegar on the item dogs don't like those things so it will prevent her from chewing on it.

Outdoor solar lights are not working?

I just bought some outdoor solar lights I put them outside around 5:45pm and now it's dark outside and they are not lighting up. Do they need more sunlight? I don't understand why they aren't working

Convert my solar charged LED lights to AC?

I have a dozen very nice solar lawn lights that I'd like to convert to
AC power. The conditions, both solar exposure and temperature here in
Wisconsin mean that these things run out of juice before the morning.
Sure seems like it shouldn't be rocket science to convert to AC power.

solution:

You burry a cable connecting (in parallel) all lamps to a one spot, preferably
inside the house or in a sheltered spot. At that spot they will be connected to
a 3 V DC power.

This is basicaly inventorbob-ga's solution 1). I discourage
solution 2) since it is not a 'low voltage' solution. There are safety
and code problems with solution 2).

The cable which can be burried is sold in an Home Depo and similar
stores (which carry automatic sprinklers). They can be used for 120V
and of course for any lover voltage. There are however some local
ordonances (if I remember correctly, there is a minimal depth (about
10") )

Make and keep drawing of the curcuit (for case of future digging ..)

You can add a central recharchable battery and a simple regulator
circuit which will charge it (from your power supply) only when
needed.

With such regulator you can have several branches connected to your power supply
or central batery.
Regulators prevent the local batteries from discharching by any other
path than to their local LED light (eliminating possible local loops).

Regulator can be just a diode (allowing the current to flow only one way) or
a slightly more complex circuit which will enable charging only when the
voltage of local battey drops to certan level.

There are codes which cover outside wiring. Your 120V AC to 12V DC converter
and eventual central battery should be inside or conform.
I would let a local electrician or garden landscape contractor to install
it, since they know the local codes.

Where can I find an outdoor solar activated switch?

So that I can have the patio lights turn on automatically at night. A cheap timing switch would be also an option. But needs to be weather proof.

Home Depot sells a replacement controller for exterior patio lights for about $45. It needs to be outside in the sun for the program to work properly, so I'm assuming it's weatherproof.

Solar Garden Lights Led

can I power my rubbish solar led's in the garden using a car battery?

The solar panel is useless, and a lot of the garden s usually in shade anyway, so is there a way to power the lights using a motorcycle/car battery or will it be too powerful? I did attach the battery briefly to the lights, but they seemed to burn REAL bright, and I could tell the cable was getting too hot, so I disconnected it right away!

You cannot pass DC through a transformer, so you cannot step down the batteries DC voltage with a transformer.
You car/motorcycle battery is 12v and if the LED was very bright, it is probably made for 5 volts or less. You can put a resister in series, but you will lose more energy in heating the resister than you will use in the LED. A better choice would be to put two or three LEDs in series, then you get value for the energy used and will not burn out the led. You can add LED's until you get the desired brightness. You would hook the positive of the first LED to the battery, then the negative to the positive of the next LED. Repeat this until the last led and connect the negative of that to the negative side of the battery.
